Attic Whispers Surrounded by Fire! Launch Update and Announcing Winners [December 2019 Edition]

Greetings from my attic in the Blue Mountains surrounded by fire!

Many of you would have heard about the bushfire crisis on the east coast of Australia. More than a hundred fires are currently raging and many are huge, and out of control. Unfortunately, the stunning Blue Mountains World Heritage National Park is well known for its bushfires, but there can be little doubt that climate change is definitely playing a big part and making things worse. To give you an idea, here are some pictures taken recently not far from where I live.

The situation is critical as the whole of Australia is suffering one of the worst droughts in decades and we have strict water restrictions in place at the moment. Frankly, I don’t know how we are going to keep our garden alive and get it through these desperate times.

All of us living up here in the Blue Mountains are doing what we can to help, and are anxiously monitoring the situation. I am a volunteer in our Community Fire Unit fighting the fires. Australia has one of the largest volunteer firefighting forces in the world, which is a reflection of the real danger we live in. We have been called up and are standing by … Difficult times indeed!

Book Launch

On a much brighter note, I would now like to turn to the recent launch of The Curious Case of the Missing Head – book 5 in the Jack Rogan Mysteries series – which was formally released worldwide on 26 November.

I am pleased to tell you that the book launch has surpassed all expectations, and this was largely due to the wonderful participation and support of my Book Launch Team. I am very fortunate to have dedicated team members like you scattered around the world from Iceland to Argentina, who took to social media with great enthusiasm to ‘spread the word’ about the new book. This splendid effort resulted in unprecedented pre-orders which in turn propelled the book to number one in the Amazon Hot New Releases and Best Sellers categories even before it was formally released to the public at large! An outstanding result indeed.

Many of you who participated in the book launch have successfully accessed the many exciting bonuses that were on offer as a small token of my appreciation of your wonderful support. Ten of you have won a signed, personal copy of the new book, and we are delighted to announce the winners – with their kind permission of course – right here:

We are certainly closing the year on a high note with the successful release of The Curious Case of the Missing Head. Publishing a new book is a team effort with many moving parts and I certainly couldn’t have done it alone.
I therefore want to take this opportunity to thank my talented and dedicated team – all of them experts in their respective fields – for their patience, persistence, professional advice and support. And please remember that all of you are also valuable members of that team and consequently share in the success of the book.

What has been particularly rewarding for me as the author, were the many eloquent reviews posted by you on Amazon, Goodreads and Bookbub. Obviously, I read them all as I get a lot of valuable feedback from the way the book is received, and how the storylines resonate with readers. And of course there is no better recommendation a new book can hope for than a favourable, well-crafted review, and I have certainly been spoilt by you in that regard. So, once again, a big Thank You to you all!

As far as the new year is concerned, I am pleased to tell you that we have a lot of exciting new things planned for you. I will tell you more about this in our January newsletter, and I can promise you it will be a big year full of surprises, especially as far as the next book is concerned.
During my recent trip to Russia I completed the research for the next book, which will be book 6 in the Jack Rogan Mysteries series. You will of course hear more from Jack, that incorrigible rascal, and continue to follow his exciting adventures around the globe. You will once again be taken to exotic locations, meet fascinating characters, and be transported through amazing chapters of history I am sure you will find as interesting and riveting as I have. So, exciting times ahead!

Finally, my friends, I wish you all the very best for the Festive Season, and may all your dreams and wishes come true in the New Year.

Thank you for your friendship.
