Attic Whispers from The Blue Mountains [August 2023 Edition]

August 2023 NEWSLETTER

Greetings from my attic in the Blue Mountains!

A lot has happened since my last newsletter. We began this year with the release of The Stolen Altarpiece, book 8 in The Jack Rogan Mysteries Series in April, and I would like to take this opportunity to thank you all once again for your wonderful support in making the book launch such a great success. The hundreds of reviews posted on various sites tell the story every writer loves to hear.
Winter up here in the Blue Mountains has been particularly harsh this year. For me, winter has always been a time for reflection and making plans. Somehow, sitting in front of the open fire and listening to music stimulates creativity. This has certainly been the case this year, and I am pleased to tell you, that we have an exciting announcement I would like to share with you now. Curious? I hope so!

Announcing: The Forgotten PaintingOur first audiobook.

As many of you would be well aware, we have given entering the audiobook market a lot of thought lately. Encouraged by the many emails and enquiries dealing with this subject, my team and I have decided that it was now time to address this issue in earnest.
In order to ‘test the waters’ so to speak, we have decided to release The Forgotten Painting, one of my bestselling novellas with over 1500 reviews on Amazon alone, before releasing the novels in the series. This would allow us to evaluate the feedback from valued readers like yourself, and then consider the best way forward.
I expect that most of you would be familiar with The Forgotten Painting. As a little reminder, here’s the audiobook cover together with a brief description of the novella:

Dive deep into history with the award-winning novella now in audiobook format! Bestselling author Jack Rogan discovers an enigmatic diary that beckons him into an enthralling mystery. Driven by a final promise to a dear departed friend, Rogan weaves through a mesmerizing trail of clues leading to an age-old treasure. Teaming up with the alluring journalist Cecilia Crawford from New York and Tristan, a young boy with a mysterious psychic gift, they embark on a daring quest. Together, they unveil shadows of a brutal past where cruelty was law and life had little value.

Will Rogan unravel the ancient enigma? Will the world witness the unveiling of a timeless masterpiece, or will it remain buried, lost to history? Don’t wait to find out. Embark on this auditory journey of suspense and intrigue. Grab your copy of the audiobook now and immerse yourself in a tale that transcends time!

The first, and in my view, most important step here, was to find the right narrator whose voice, diction, timing, and general approach were not only engaging, but drew the listener into the storyline and the characters in an exciting, believable way. By no means an easy task, I can tell you!

After a lengthy, extensive search, I believe that we have found the right ‘voice’ for The Jack Rogan Mysteries Series. The narrator we have chosen is Julian Pulvermacher, a talented actor with a wonderful, beguiling voice radiating elegance and charm, who has performed in theatre, radio, TV and film productions.

As a thought-after voice actor, Julian offers a range of accents and characters to add colour and excitement to his narration. I was particularly impressed by his language skills. Julian speaks German, Afrikaans, some French and bits of Italian, Spanish and even Russian. As The Jack Rogan Mysteries Series features over 450 characters of diverse backgrounds and nationalities, this ability made Julian, without question, the right choice.

But please don’t just take my word for it. Here’s a sample of his work, and you can judge for yourself.

Please let me know what you think of Julian’s voice and delivery. You know I value your opinion.

More exciting announcements will follow shortly, but first, I would love to know how our first audiobook, The Forgotten Painting, resonates with you.

If I’ve piqued your interest and you want to listen to the whole novel, you can! Let Julian’s silky voice transport you into the exciting world of The Forgotten Painting. The audiobook is available right now from the following retailers:
